Manual therapy
Manual therapy is an internationally recognized system of prevention, evaluation and treatment of disorders affecting the neuro-musculoskeletal system using hands-on techniques, and also includes osteopathy.
The original concept of manipulative physiotherapy by Geoffrey Maitland is firmly established in the medical field and is based on sound scientific and clinical evidence.
The strength of the concept lies in its flexibility and openness that allows the therapist to customise treatments around the patient and their unique problems.
In each session, the patient is evaluated at the beginning and at the end of treatment. This allows the physiotherapist to immediately measure changes in the patient’s condition and proceed with the rehabilitation plan efficiently and effectively.
With this approach, the Maitland concept of manipulative physiotherapy meets the demands of modern physiotherapy without losing sight of the individuality of each patient.
The concept is applied to prevent, evaluate and treat disorders affecting the neuro-musculoskeletal system and allow functional recovery in the following ways:
- Precise evaluation procedures
- Manual examination and treatment techniques of the spine and
- peripheral joints
- Examination and treatment of neural structures
- Analysis of muscle imbalance
- Instructions and precise information given to the patient about posture,
- movement and self-correction
